Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession concerned with human function and movement and maximizing potential. It uses physical approaches to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social well-being, taking account of variations in health status. It is science based and the exercise of clinical judgement and informed interpretation is at its core.

Chartered Physiotherapists study for 3 to 4 years at university, completing over 1,000 hours of clinical practice in a number of different specialities and settings. Chartered Physiotherapists are involved in the treatment and management of a huge range of conditions that include:

  • Neck pain, back pain including sciatica
  • Arthritis and rheumatism
  • Whiplash
  • Headaches
  • Sports injuries and Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
  • Fractures and joint replacements
  • Gynaecological conditions
  • Obstetrics
